This was the second time Beach House were playing in Madrid, the first time was in 2008, and to be honest I didn’t remember they had ever played in Madrid.
The tickets for these show were sold out and La Riviera was really packed. I didn’t like the opener at all, but I was looking for a good spot so I arrived early to the venue.
The show was mainly composed of songs from Bloom and Teen Dream with only one song from their first album. The voice of Victoria is so good live, and the overall sound of the concert was pretty good too. I don’t like the fact that there were too many prerecorded parts. I guess it must be difficult to play some of the songs with only three musicians on stage, but I have never been a fan of adding additional voices or sounds. However, I really enjoyed the songs and I think the minimalist stage is also a great set up for this band.
The sound of the recording is incredibly good, and although the venue was full I found a nice spot at the back with almost no interference from the audience and not any clapping around. I think it’s one of my best recordings so far… getting a nice spot and setting up the mics correctly is by far the most important thing in order to get a good recording. Thanks to all the tapers who share their knowledge throughout the web =).
